Sphere Trainers

Our global network of Sphere practitioners includes experienced trainers skilled in delivering learning activities based on Sphere and the Sphere Handbook.

The Sphere office works to ensure that all trainers listed in our database meet established criteria. Please note, however, that the Sphere office does not formally evaluate or certify trainers. It remains the responsibility of event organizers to assess each trainer’s qualifications, quality of work, and fit for their specific learning objectives.

Criteria to be listed

To be listed in the Sphere Trainer Database, candidates must meet the following criteria:

Recently Evaluated ToT

Have completed an officially recognized Sphere Training of Trainers (ToT) within the past two years, based on the latest Sphere Handbook and materials, with an evaluation record or evaluator reference available upon request.

Handbook knowledge

Demonstrate a thorough understanding of Sphere and the Sphere Handbook, with in-depth knowledge of the latest Sphere training materials.

Five workshops

Have facilitated at least five workshops, including a minimum of two Sphere-specific workshops using the latest versions of the Handbook and training materials.

Field experience

Have direct experience implementing Sphere in the field, or strong working knowledge of real-world implementation challenges and dilemmas gained through training practice.

Facilitation skills

Possess solid knowledge of adult learning principles, along with demonstrated training and facilitation skills.

Willing to share references

Be prepared to provide event organizers with references from peer trainers, past participants, and organizers of previously conducted training sessions.
To stay visible

To remain visible in the Sphere Trainer Database, trainers are expected to:

Keep Your Training Diary Up to Date

Regularly update your training diary by logging Sphere workshops and other humanitarian sector courses you facilitate. Note: profiles with no Sphere events recorded in the past two years will be hidden until a new qualifying event is added.

Be an Active Community Member

Actively seek opportunities to train others, champion the Sphere mission, and engage with the wider Sphere community. Whether through completing surveys, joining expert panels, participating in discussions, or other community activities.
