Meeting the challenge: Are the HSP global standards fit for purpose? Session 1

April 27, 2021, 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM

Humanitarian Networks and Partnerships Weeks 2021 (Online) , Geneva , Switzerland

Event Category: Presentation

Organizer: UNOCHA Leading Edge Programme

The Humanitarian Networks and Partnerships Weeks (HNPW) is the annual event of the Learning Edge Programme and the largest event of its kind. Every year, the HNPW brings together more than 2000 experts in crisis preparedness and response from over 350 organizations and countries.

The Humanitarian Standards Partnership (HSP) is a coalition of standard-setting initiatives coordinated by Sphere. HSP members all share a similar approach. They see humanitarian standards as an expression of human rights developed via inclusive consultation processes with a wide range of practitioners, and which create abroad consensus on best practices. The HSP aims to harmonise different sets of humanitarian standards and promote their implementation.

This double session, organised in the framework of the Humanitarian Networks and Partnerships Weeks, will explore the role of humanitarian standards and present the work and added value of the HSP. Depending on the day, we will provide French and Arabic or Spanish simultaneous interpretation and English live captions.
