LEGS takes a livelihoods-based approach to emergency response, focusing on protecting and rebuilding livestock assets, and drawing on the sustainable livelihoods framework. At the same time, since the publication of the second edition of the LEGS Handbook, there has been a growing interest in the concept of ‘resilience’. Taking a livelihoods approach also provides an opportunity to address the humanitarian and development nexus. This webinar presents the key findings from the LEGS Discussion Paper on Livelihoods and Resilience, which reviews the role of livelihoods-based approaches in the broader context of humanitarian response, and their contribution to the humanitarian-development nexus, and how livelihoods-based approaches can contribute to resilience building.
