The training was attended by 23 individuals from 17 local and national non-governmental organizations in Ukraine.

As a result of the training, the participants learned that “Sphere” combines many meanings, it is a movement, a community, a manual, and a project, but first of all, “Sphere” is an approach to providing assistance to the affected population. The participants also learned that the main philosophy of the Sphere consists of two statements: people affected by emergencies or conflict have the right to a dignified life, and therefore have the right to assistance, and that all possible measures should be taken to alleviate the suffering of people caused by an emergency or conflict. The participants improved their knowledge and easily identify the areas of assistance included in the “Sphere” Manual, namely Food, Wash, Shelter, Health. It is also worth noting that most participants at the end of the training correctly identified that the “Sphere” manual consists of two main sections: fundamental and technical. Participants improved their knowledge of the definition of the Core Humanitarian Standard for Quality and Accountability and learned that the “Sphere” manual includes the following 4 areas of assistance: food security, water/sanitation/hygiene, shelter, and health. These examples indicate the assimilation of the material after training.

Each participant received the “Sphere” manual. The training program and active work with the manual helped participants better understand the feasibility of its practical use in their work. The training was attended by mostly participants with significant experience in the humanitarian field. The training helped participants better structure their knowledge and exchange practical experience. Each participant received a certificate of completion of the three-day “Sphere” training.
