Supporting the Capacity of Civil Society Organisations in Disaster Risk Management, 15-16 January 2025, Türkiye

The training invitation was extended to Nirengi by the Türkiye Disaster Platform, which consists of 65 members. The Disaster Platform aims to enhance the capacity of its member civil society organisations in disaster risk management through the Sphere training and to ensure that humanitarian operations are planned and implemented more effectively and ethically.

The Sphere Training Program includes an introduction to Sphere, its purpose, and the structure and use of the Sphere Handbook. Core principles such as the Humanitarian Charter, Protection Principles, and Core Humanitarian Standards will be explained. The program also addresses key humanitarian aid sectors, including WASH (Water Supply, Sanitation, and Hygiene Promotion), Food Security and Nutrition, Shelter and Settlement, and Health Actions. Practical applications and case studies, particularly those related to the challenges and solutions experienced during the Kahramanmaraş Earthquake, will be discussed. The training is supported by interactive sessions, group work, and simulations.
