Training of arche noVa and Nouveaux Horizons staffs (Mali) on Sphere

This report summarizes a capacity-building workshop held in Bamako, Mali, from March 6-7, 2025. Hosted by Arche Nova and Nouveaux Horizons, the workshop focused on Sphere humanitarian standards, particularly in WASH programs, in the perspective of adapting them to the Malian context.

The training employed a participatory approach, encouraging attendees to share their knowledge and understanding through group work and plenary sessions, rather than solely presenting Sphere modules.

A key recommendation is to develop a Sphere training-of-trainers program. Several participants expressed interest in becoming certified Sphere trainers, which would allow Arche Nova to position itself as a Sphere focal point in Mali (a role currently vacant). This initiative would enhance Arche Nova’s visibility in Africa and globally by enabling them to train other organizations, share experiences, and promote Sphere standards.
