Heads up: Humanitarian cartoons on their way

Sphere • August 26, 2014

A 60-second sneak-peek at the cartoons.

The Sphere Project office is about to publish a series of six posters and six matching postcards featuring humanitarian messages illustrated with cartoons. The posters and postcards will be available in Arabic, English, French and Spanish.

We hope they’ll be an attractive and memorable way of communicating some of the key messages of the Humanitarian Charter – the cornerstone of the minimum standards for humanitarian response contained in the Sphere Handbook.

As we can only print and distribute a limited quantity of posters and postcards, we thought we should offer members of the Sphere community the possibility of acquiring their own set… So we are planning to offer them on a crowd-funding platform. More on this soon, stay tuned!

If you are involved in humanitarian response or simply if you care about humanitarian aid, these posters and postcards will allow you to share with others your commitment to quality and accountability.

To bring this project to fruition, we have partnered with the Cartoon Movement and the Centre for Education and Research in Humanitarian Action (CERAH). The Cartoon Movement brings together more than 100 editorial cartoonists in over 60 countries. CERAH, the humanitarian platform in Geneva’s academic environment, offers a variety of training and conducts research on topics of humanitarian action.
