New quality and accountability resource center in Nairobi

One of the problems training organizers face is getting handbooks and other resources from overseas on time due to shipping and customs clearing requisites. This problem is addressed by the resource center through an innovative concept: organizers can borrow the books from the center and “reimburse” them later on.

Some 275 copies of different handbooks, guidelines and other resources are already available at the center, thanks to a donation of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

“We hope this will indeed help facilitate the organization of trainings until the quality and accountability initiatives together find another solution to make their materials available in larger quantities for procurement in the field,” says Astrid de Valon, FAO’s Regional Emergency Advisor.

“Meanwhile, we encourage other agencies to support the resource center with additional materials to make it as efficient as possible,” de Valon adds.

Those interested in taking advantage of the new service should contact Edwin Kuria, Chair of IAWG’s Training and Capacity Building Working Group.
