Refreshed logo for the Sphere Project

Sphere • June 18, 2012

Please note this article is outdated. Sphere became an independent organisation in 2016; the Sphere logo was refreshed once again in 2018.

“We felt the logo needed refreshing after many years of serving us well,” says John Damerell, the Project’s manager. The new version “is fundamentally the same logo, as an expression of the continuity of the principles and values the Project stands for, but with a more contemporary look in line with the dynamism of the Sphere community.” The logo features a simple and clean look, with the traditional logomark – the earth globe – in hand-drawn style. A new font has been chosen to convey a professional yet empathetic look. Fresh and complementary colours – green and blue – and a gradient representing the sea give the logo a contemporary look. “The new Sphere Project logo expresses in a lively manner the character of the Sphere community: compassionate, professional, global,” say the new Visual Identity Guidelines published on the Sphere website.
