Sphere e-learning course now available to thousands of NGO staff

Sphere • June 23, 2013

Created in 2005 as a network of organisations willing to share their learning resources, LINGOs is currently integrated by 75 international NGOs. Its membership includes some of the major players in the fields of humanitarian response, from CARE International to the International Medical Corps, and from Plan International to Save the Children to World Vision – to name but a few of the Sphere Project Board organisations.

By virtue of the agreement between LINGOs and the Sphere Project, the staff of organisations affiliated to LINGOs can access the Sphere e-learning course through their own organisations’ learning platforms. To find out if your organisation is a member of LINGOs, visit this webpage. If it is, you may need to contact your learning manager to request access to the course.

“We are delighted by this partnership,” says Verónica Foubert, responsible for Learning and Training at the Sphere Project office. “Thousands of humanitarian workers around the world will be able to take the course for free and have it accredited within their own staff development records.”

The Sphere e-learning course aims to increase the understanding and effective use of the Sphere Handbook, Humanitarian Charter and Minimum Standards in Humanitarian Response. In order to achieve this, it allows humanitarian workers to undertake an ambitious training program on Sphere principles and standards in an autonomous manner.
