Haibo Wang

Haibo Wang has been actively applying Sphere standards in disaster response and humanitarian efforts since 2013. His work spans a wide range of emergencies, including earthquakes, floods, typhoons, and epidemics across China and internationally.

Highlights of his Sphere-related contributions include:

• Conducting disaster assessments and coordinating relief efforts in major earthquakes, such as the Lushan, Dingxi, Shangri-la, Ludian, and Jiuzhaigou earthquakes.
• Implementing Sphere principles in providing clean water, sanitation, and essential supplies during natural disasters like Typhoon Rammasun, Typhoon Nepartak, and the Henan floods.
• Establishing child-friendly spaces (“Children’s Paradise”) in resettlement areas to support the well-being of children in crisis-affected regions.
• Supporting hygiene and sanitation needs during epidemics and floods, such as the 2020 Anhui flood and the 2023 Zhuozhou flood.
• Participating in Sphere teaching programs led by Pat Melancon, including serving as a teaching assistant and instructor in 2023.

Haibo’s dedication to humanitarian action is evident in his efforts to integrate Sphere standards into disaster response strategies, ensuring dignity, safety, and inclusivity for affected communities.
