About Community World Service Asia
Community World Service Asia (CWSA) is a humanitarian and development organization, registered in Pakistan, head-quartered in Karachi and implementing initiatives throughout Asia.
Community World Service Asia is the Sphere Country Focal Point in Pakistan and Sphere’s Regional Partner in Asia. CWSA has been committed to promoting Sphere Standards in Asia region since 2005. It has supported Sphere in building a community of practice in the region including strengthening/developing the Country Focal Point system through trainings, TOTs, technical support, deployments, publications, translations of the Sphere handbook, lesson learning and consultations on the revision processes. As Sphere’s Regional Partner in Asia, CWSA’s continues to support increasing local ownership, contextual adaptation and application of Sphere together with other Q&A initiatives such as the CHS and the Humanitarian Standards Partnership in emergencies.
As a national non-governmental organization, we continue to partner with local communities, a host of national, local and international NGOs, besides a growing number of governments departments including NDMA, multilateral organizations, international professional networks and academic institutions. We hold a unique role in the region and our role in promoting Q&A, Q&A capacity enhancement and Q&A advocacy is evolving with the changing humanitarian landscape. We continuously promote Q&A standards including Sphere and CHS within our own work, with partners including I/NGOs, Academia, Government bodies and also with the Regional Networks.
